DESIGN CONCEPT
This school of music and the arts is envisioned as a large public courtyard for the gathering of artists and patrons alike. The western side of this large space is flanked with tall brick towers that house the living quarters of the gurus with their students. The opposite side of this large space is framed by a series of full height brick chambers where students can learn from their gurus in absolute solitude with only the breeze, the sounds of water pools and the sight of lush greenery in attendance.
MATERIAL PALETTE
  • Exposed multi-textured brick walls using higher quality as well as rejected, deformed bricks
  • External walls are complemented by intricate brick “jaalis”
  • Internal courtyard paved in polished “kota” stone
  • Overhanging roof and helical ramp in exposed concrete
