A narrow courtyard becomes the primary breathing space for a densely occupied plot in the city’s suburbs. Two slender multistory residential buildings consisting of single room tenements look at each other across this central courtyard. One of these blocks is lifted up off the plaza level to reveal views of the vast agricultural landscape beyond, offering relief from the vertical canyon of space.
